"Frontiers in Tissue Engineering: West Australian Symposium"

An informal workshop to bring together international and local researchers in the exciting new area of Tissue Engineering. Tissue Engineering is an emerging interdisciplinary field that applies the principles of biology and engineering to the development of substitutes to restore, maintain or improve the function of body tissues. Such bioengineering research is attracting considerable world-wide clinical and commercial interest. This workshop was designed to facilitate discussions and stimulate new collaborations and developments.

Program for TERC Workshop October 5th, 2000

Invited Speaker, Prof. Joseph P Vacanti
Tissue Engineering, A New Tool for 21st Century Medicine - A general overview of the clinical need and several examples of how tissue engineered living replacements can meet the need using examples from our work in several systems including cardiovascular structures, cartilage and bone, neural repair, and finally the possibility of vital organs.
